One concept that really found
interesting in this week’s reading was success and failure. The book stresses
on the fact that failure is common in working in small groups, and comes
hand-in-hand with being successful in working towards the group’s goal. Recognizing
the failures one has in a group is one of the most impactful ways to ensure
success. When you are able to see where you went wrong as a group, you can use
it as an opportunity to grow and learn from the mistakes that were possibly
made. To me learning from your mistakes or failures is what is most important.
I see it as a way to make sure that certain things don’t happen again or help
better the process a group is doing to help it reach its goal. I also feel that
through success there are things and experiences to be learned from. Nobody is
perfect so I feel that looking back on past successes you can always see places
where you could’ve improved, like the book mentions, “the person who makes no
mistakes, usually [hasn’t made] nothing”.
